In the still of the night
You captured my eye
Gazing through a crimson veil
You were the only thing in sight
I know for this one sin I'd die

Decades passed and centuries dawned
Eternity didn't exist until you were born
Try to escape, but it'll be to no avail
I know I can't always have what I want
But you...only to me you'll be forever sworn

As your hope flies away from sight
Oh my sweet, I'll make sure
Your feet never touch sand
You are my soul's cure
I'll chain you to this cursed land
Not even the ocean can save you from my might

"I knew I should have trusted the waves, only listened to the wind"

Your soul is bound by me
You'll never find your way back home
Your heart will never set sail
Weep your blood filled tears
I have your treasure, I'll never be alone

You can scratch and claw
But your blessed skin is forever mine
No one can hear your echoing wails
Knowing you can't be saved from what I saw
You long for the ocean's soothing rhyme

As your hope flies away from sight
Oh my dear, you'll stay for long
Your feet never touching sand
Sing to me your sorrowful song
I'll bind you to this cursed land
Not even the gods can save you from my might

"Without my skin, all that I am....I can never return to my people beneath the sea"
This is inspired by the folklore behind the mythical creatures selkies, seal folk who turn into humans after shedding their seal skin to come on land. Without their skin they can't return to the ocean, and greedy human men would sometimes hide the seal skins from selkie women in order to keep them. This is Celtic mythology.
